The excitement was palpable when Megan Fox was announced to play Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1. It seemed like the perfect pick, especially given her role in Jennifer's Body, but the tide has turned as voice lines and in-game footage have come to light. Now, some fans are going as far as to say her performance is worse than Mortal Kombat 11's Sonya.

"Oh Megan my sweet summer child. She's definitely having a mid-off with [Sonya actor] Ronda. But Nitara's my girl so I can't help but stan," @EvelynnLuxe said. "Megan Fox was by [far] the worst choice for them to have for Nitara," @AKemiyagaming said. "Ronda sounded better in my opinion as Sonya in Mortal Kombat 11 at least."

For context, Mortal Kombat 11 cast professional wrestler Ronda Rousey as Sonya, bringing a bit of UFC to the series. It didn't pay off, as her performance was infamously wooden, something hard to ignore when she played a major role in the story. For all intents and purposes, Megan Fox is filling that slot in MK1.

The general sentiment from a lot of the replies and quote retweets is that the role should have gone to an actual voice actor. Fox doesn't have much experience in that department, with her only past credits being the tie-in Transformers games. "You would think [NetherRealm] would learn to hire actual voice actors for their characters after all the backlash for casting Ronda Rousey as Sonya in MK11," @StillFail1ng said.

"Stunt casting celebrities at its finest folks," @LowKeyWanKenobi said. "There's no way in HELL people think Ronda Rousey is worse than this," @Myxtoven said. "This is why you hire voice actors. Not Hollywood actors for name recognition," @Snelldor said.

Of course, not everyone hates Fox's performance as much as these players do, with some believing it to be purposefully camp and part of Mortal Kombat's cheesy charm.

"Remember guys... MK is a very serious franchise with totally no joke characters like Meat and Mocap ever existing ever," @Axel_Warlock said.

"Guys it's a Mortal Kombat story mode, what did you expect?" @spiderdudeussy said. Great username, for the record. "Oh, so Twitter doesn't like camp suddenly!" @NebsGoodTakes said. "I've already gaslit myself into liking this, you can't stop me," @TimDrakeWonder said.

For the most part, her performance is going down like a lead balloon. Granted, this is just one line from an intro to a fight, and we've yet to see her chew the scenery in the story (or people's necks, given that she's, you know, a vampire), so it could just be this one line. But fans aren't hopeful.
